The African Choir were a group of young South African singers that toured Britain between 1891 and 1893. They were formed to raise funds for a Christian school in their home country and performed for Queen Victoria at Osborne House, a royal residence on the Isle of Wight. At some point during their stay, they visited the studio of the London Stereoscopic Company to have group and individual portraits made on plate-glass negatives.

Thomas Charles Turner was in partnership with John Henry Killick until this partnership was dissolved on Sept.29th 1887. This cdv has the details for T.C.Turner whilst the previous cdv uses the name Turner & Killick although both cdvs are dated 10 days before the end of the partnership and were obviously taken at the same time.

Greek Mythology Meme: [1/7] gods
Also called Kore , Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest goddess Demeter, and is the queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic queen of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was abducted by Hades, the god-king of the underworld. The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation, which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence, she is also associated with spring as well as the fertility of vegetation.
